The Experience of a Lightworker

S1E3: Kundalini Awakenings & Warm Bursts of Energy

Andrea L. Light Season 1 Episode 3

Have you studied or experienced kundalini awakening? I barely knew what it was, never thought I was capable of achieving kundalini awakening because I'm not into yoga, but I experienced it and it felt like energetic burst of light -like warm, popping popcorn going up my spine where it stopped at one of my chakras and ended in fireworks! A beautiful experience that I want to share with the world.

Please be sure to tell your friends and family about the podcast and leave a review wherever you're listening, it keeps me motivated to put in all the time and effort needed to create these episodes. Mahalo :)

S1E3 Kundalini Awakening

Aloha and welcome back.  Today, I’ll be covering Kundalini Awakenings, what they are and what it means when you have one, I will also be sharing my own personal spontaneous golden kundalini awakening.

Early into my spiritual path, I had read something about kundalini awakenings. I remember thinking how mysterious it sounded and that it was necessary to do yoga to awaken the serpent, but, I thought it was way beyond my abilities. Also, I didn’t really dig yoga. So, I never focused on making it happen.  Later in the podcast, I’ll share that experience as well as what I was doing that led up to the experience.

But first, what is Kundalini? In Hinduism, Kundalini means coiled snake. Kundalini energy is described as a divine feminine energy, a force or power associated with the divine feminine or the formless aspect of the Goddess.  Please don’t assume that because this energy is feminine, that our male counterparts are shut out of this experience -this simply isn’t the case.  Kundalini energy can be tapped into by anyone, but please tread with caution.

This powerful energy is believed to be coiled and resting at the base of the spine, the location of the root chakra.

When kundalini is cultivated and awakened through tantric practice, it is believed to lead to spiritual liberation. So, what is tantric practice?  Tantra  are the esoteric traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism that developed in India thousands of years ago. A focus of these traditions is the use of mantras

Kuṇḍalinī awakenings are said to occur by a variety of methods, including chanting mantras, yoga movement, pranayama breathing, and meditation. My favorite example of a kundalini yoga mantra is the Adi mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, which roughly translates to “I bow to the teacher within.” Again, that’s the Adi mantra, it’s A-D-I mantra and you say Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo.  It is believed that this mantra connects one to the golden chain, to the community of kundalini yoga students and teachers, both living and in spirit.  You want to use this mantra during meditation.

I researched online and found there six yoga poses and breathing techniques that are specifically used to awaken the kundalini: those are “Breath of Fire,” “Ego Eradicator,” “Spinal Flexes” using the “Seated Cat Cow Pose,” “Sufi Grind Pose,” “Shoulder Twist,” and the “Archer” pose. So, I never got into yoga, so, if interested in learning more about yoga and these poses and breathing techniques, you’ll need to look up some of these poses and breathing techniques. I can repeat again “Breath of Fire,” “Ego Eradicator,” “Spinal Flexes” using the “Seated Cat Cow Pose,” “Sufi Grind Pose,” “Shoulder Twist,” and the “Archer” pose.

As for pranayama breathing techniques, there are many, and each type provides different results.  So check out pranayama breathing techniques and listen to a few of those, read about them, and a few tries you’ll find something that really fits with you and reasonates.

These exercises are believed to rouse dormant energy and move it along your chakras until it reaches the point of exit in your head at the crown chakra.  This release promotes internal balance, awakening and enlightment.

So you’re wondering how a kundalini awakening feels. It’s frequently reported to be a distinct feeling of an electric current running along the spine.  Many also describe it as a frightening experience, an experience that can cause even mental breaks. While others, like myself, describe a more pleasant, nirvana like experience.

Now let’s turn to how I experienced a golden kundalini awakening -something I had never planned for.

My golden kundalini experience spontaneously occurred on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 and I’m looking at my journal entries and I’m reading that we had watched Pillow Talk, a movie from the 1950s and stars Rock Hudson and Doris Day.  After the movie, I went to bed and watched two Gaia short films: the first was “Be Here Now” by Ram Dass and the second was “A Revelation on the Journey of Life Jyoti” and part through this second video is when this experience hit me out of nowhere. I was lying on my back on my bed, I was relaxed and out of no where I felt this very distinctive pop, the way I describe it was it was a burst of energy, it felt like popcorn. It was warm, it popped, it was energetic. I could sense light, but I couldn’t see light. So, it started at the very base of my spine at the Root Chakra. So this first pop came and seconds later maybe the next pop came, and it started to move up my spine. I continued to feel these warm bursts of light, these warm bursts of energy go up my spine. Like pop, pop, pop.  Pop, pop, pop.  Pop. Pop. And as it got closer to my Heart Chakra, I started to really analyze what was going on. I became fearful because I didn’t understand what was happened. I wasn’t making the connection to Kundalini. I didn’t know enough about it. I had not been studying it in any depth whatsoever, and so I became frightened and it seems like it was at that same moment that my fear arose, that my Heart Chakra exploded int his beautiful burst of positive, warm, loving light. It was absolutely breath taking. It was literally breathtaking. I think that it did take my breath away. It wasn’t painful. At no point, during this experience that probably lasted five seconds to 10 seconds, at no point did I experience any pain. It was beautiful, it was pure. It was a loving energy and it was that divine feminine energy uncoiling at the base of my spine, coming out of my Root Chakra and twisting it’s way up to where it exploded in this magnificent fireworks of love, and light, and peace. It was absolutely amazing. I felt like I was in a state of bliss. That I had entered Nirvana. I had never felt such high vibrations in my entire life. It was one of those experiences that one could never forget. I know that I will go my grave remembering that experience with absolute clarity. I may forget my name, I may forget how old I am but I guarantee you that I will never forget that experience.

So looking at my journal entries I noted that on Nov. 24, 2020, four days after my kundalini awakening, that I was up at 3:00 am and had been sleeping, and I am recalling it as I’m reading it, I turned to sleep on my other side and I felt this severe vertigo. I remember this, it was the worst vertigo I had ever felt. I felt as if my soul was spinning inside my body, it was the most strange sensation and it was really disorienting. I felt like I was going to get sick. I felt like I was going to vomit. I’m real sensitive to motion, I get motions sickness easily. I think there was something going where my soul, my spirit was somehow moving outside of my body and it just made me have this really awful feeling of nauseous. I noted about 12 hours later I was still feeling residual vertigo. I noted further, I guess I had gone online to read about this and apparently I had read that vertigo was unique side effect of ascension.

Together we can raise the vibrations of the collective and bring more light into this world, at a time where it’s so desperately needed.

It’s time that we start looking at this phenomenon more seriously. I will submit to any scientific studies out there, to help prove there is a reality beyond what we can see.  So join me on this exciting journey, where we can explore spirituality together. Mahalo nui loa for listening, peace, love and light.
